At Summer NAMM 2018, Hamer Guitars unveiled a six-model line-up that’s set to turn heads. Here’s a closer look:

The Sunburst

This guitar is based on Hamer’s original, late-70s flat top guitar of the same name. Its vintage aesthetic is perhaps the standout feature, with the new Sunburst featuring a double-cutaway body shape and neck joint that bear striking resemblance to the rare Hamer originals.

In terms of tonewoods, the axe boasts a solid mahogany body and flame maple top that’s decked in a period-authentic sunburst finish. Rounding off its specs are a set of Hamer Zebra Hard Rock humbuckers and a hard-tail bridge.

Lists for £699.

The Monaco Korina

The Monaco Korina is modelled after a rare, limited-edition Hamer Custom Shop guitar from 2005. This new piece retains its predecessor’s solid korina single-cut body, korina neck, and ebony fingerboard with jumbo frets. Its warm and versatile tone comes by way of two P-90 soapbars. Hardware appointments include a wrap-around Wilkinson bridge that serves up plenty of sustain.

Lists for £679.

The Monaco

This beautiful axe sports a comfortable carved top and single-cutaway design. Its tonewoods comprise a flame maple top over a mahogany body, mahogany set neck, and an ebony fretboard adorned with stunning “victory” inlays. Topping off this classy outfit is an arresting Cherry Sunburst veneer and a set of Hamer humbuckers.

Lists for £799.

The Archtop and Archtop Tremolo

These two models are based on the Hamer Studio body, which was an iconic design introduced by the brand in 1977.

Both guitars feature upgrades to their tonewoods, with each model sporting a mahogany body and a solid maple top. They also share the same sonic appointments: two Hamer humbuckers deliver a meaty yet focused tone.

There is, however, a difference in hardware. The Hamer Archtop comes with a Tune-o-Matic bridge, while the Hamer Archtop Tremolo sports a Wilkinson tremolo bridge instead.

The Hamer Archtop is available in Transparent Black and lists for £699, while the Hamer Archtop Tremolo is available in a Dark Burst Cherry and lists for £749.

The Special Jr

This double-cutaway axe is a slightly downscaled version of the original 1980 Hamer Sunburst. Its highlights include a full-depth dovetail neck joint and a single Hamer Dog Eared P-90. Elsewhere, you’ll find a mahogany body, a mahogany neck, an ebony fingerboard, and a reliable Tune-o-Matic bridge.

Lists for £529.
