Tired of having your pedals down on the floor? Meet the Fuzz Beast

Jack’s Instrument Services has revealed a dramatically modified Epiphone Les Paul. The guitar sports the notable addition of an entire octave-fuzz pedal into the body.

The Manchester-based guitar workshop put over a year of research into how to incorporate the effects into the guitar. The pedal itself uses circuitry from a Fuzz Factory clone, complete with a joystick to control the ‘stab’ parameter. The guitar’s effects unit also sports an octave pedal circuit, as well as a custom-designed control plate.

The effects aren’t the only upgrade the guitar got, as it received a full fret dress and a new set of Zebra Tonerider Generator pickups.

Relatedly, Youtuber Look Mum No Computer recently revealed one of his earliest electronics projects: a Gibson Les Paul with quite a large route in the back, making room for an Arduino-powered MIDI keyboard. While some were somewhat shocked at the choice to take a router to a £1,000 guitar, he explained his choice: “some of you might be saying, ‘why the heck have you done that to a Gibson Les Paul, why didn’t you do it to a cheaper guitar?’ Well, the thing is, why would you do it to a cheaper guitar? If you’re gonna be using it, you may as well do it to the guitar you like playing.”
