Jackson’s new artist model for Marty Friedman is the Pro Series Signature MF-1, a sleek electric with premium electronics and an eye-catching Purple Mirror finish.

The guitar is an evolution of the X Series MF-1, which we scored 8/10 in our 2018 review. It features a single-cut mahogany body with three-ply binding (white/abalone/white) and a finish that resembles that of a cracked mirror.

Its neck, also mahogany, has a scarf joint and graphite-reinforcement rods for protection against neck warping. Atop that sits a 22-fret ebony fingerboard with a 12-inch radius and pearloid block inlays.

Moving on to electronics, the Pro Series MF-1 has a duo of Friedman’s signature EMG MF humbuckers, which are passive pickups, so you won’t have to worry about batteries. These route to two sets of volume and tone controls and a three-way pickup selector.

The all-black hardware – designed in-house by Jackson – includes a TOM-style adjustable bridge and anchored tailpiece, as well as a set of AT-1 die-cast locking tuners, which should improve tuning stability.

Watch Marty Friedman demo his new guitar below:

Marty Friedman said in a statement launching his new signature model: “It’s a guitar that can hang with the most aggressive playing possible, as well as allows for tender interpretations of melodies, two major elements of my music. Oh and it looks badass, too.”

The Jackson Pro Series MF-1 is priced at $1,199 and is available now.
