JHS has released a quartet of limited-edition stompers inspired by classics from 1966. The range, which includes the Rangemaster Boost, Fuzz Face, Italy Tone Bender and Tone Bender 1.5, is available exclusively through Sweetwater.

In a video uploaded to JHS’ YouTube channel, founder Josh Scott explained how the 1966 collection came about and shared the inspirations behind each pedal:

  • Fuzz Face: Takes after its Arbiter namesake
  • Rangemaster Boost: Informed by the Dallas/Arbiter Rangemaster Treble Booster
  • Italy Tone Bender: Features a circuit inspired by Vox’s original Tonebender
  • Tone Bender 1.5: Based on the Sola Sound MK 1.5 ToneBender

JHS’ 1966 pedals are all hand-wired with NOS components, which include germanium transistors, high-grade carbon resistors and oversized capacitors.

The 1966 collection’s first run – which offered only 20 units of each pedal – has sold out. However, the pedals, each retailing at $399, should be back in stock in the next couple of months.
