JHS Pedals will weigh in on Amazon stompboxes and “secret pedal manufacturing”

Never one to shy away from expressing his views, Josh Scott of JHS Pedals will today conduct a live discussion and dissection of Amazon’s divisive new guitar pedal line on YouTube.
The discussion is scheduled to take place later today (4 November) at 4pm CST/10pm GMT on the JHS Pedals YouTube channel.
In an Instagram post announcing the educational session, Scott said that he will be discussing “Amazon’s new pedal line” as well as “the history of OEM (original equipment manufacturing)”
“I’m going to teach the history of ‘secret pedal manufacturing,’ and it’s going to be like that one enjoyable class you had in junior high. Hotly-debated,” wrote Scott.
Earlier this month, AmazonBasics – the private-label brand of the online retail giant – expanded its product catalogue to include a range of seven mini guitar pedals, most priced under $30.
Reactions from the online guitar community have been varied. While some have been critical of the pedals, others were pleasantly surprised by their build quality and performance.
Unsurprisingly, many have also questioned the authenticity of the AmazonBasics pedals – noting a strong resemblance to other (equally affordable) mini pedals available on Amazon.com.
