Jared James Nichols has teased that a Goldtop edition of his signature Epiphone “Old Glory” Les Paul Custom could be landing soon.

On Monday (4 January), the blues rocker took to Instagram to share a photo of the guitar, along with the caption, “Glory shines like gold / getting closer…”

The guitar appears similar to the limited-edition Black Aged Gloss original, introduced back in 2019. One key difference, however, seems to be the omission of the “Blues Power” plate below the bridge.

The same Goldtop guitar was also spotted in a separate Instagram post from Nichols, shared on 29 December.

Nichols’ “Old Glory” signature model is based on a ’55 Gibson Les Paul Custom, fitted with a Seymour Duncan P-90 in the bridge.

In a statement launching the guitar, Nichols explained he was attracted to the idea of a single-pickup instrument after trying out one owned by Aerosmith guitarist Joe Perry.

“Ever since Joe Perry loaned me a 50s Les Paul Custom with a single pickup, I knew I needed one of my own,” he said. “This is an incredible guitar. I can’t put it down. I’m so honoured and grateful.”

The vintage-leaning axe also sports a mahogany body, a mahogany set neck and an ebony fingerboard with traditional block inlays.

It is currently unclear when exactly the new finish will be available but from Nichols’ posts, it appears to be just around the corner.
