Joyo has beefed up its R-series offering with the Uzi Distortion. It’s the second pedal in the brand’s new dirt box collection, following the Tauren Overdrive‘s launch last week.

The Uzi is a versatile drive pedal that serves up a variety of tones, including warm amp-driven overdrive and piercing heavy metal distortion. Its drive sounds are modelled after classic Marshall amps such as the JMC 800 and 900.

In terms of controls, the pedal has a three-band EQ, and “Volume”, “Gain” and “Bias” knobs. The latter can be tweaked to dial in classic American and British distortion presets. With a different combination of settings, however, the pedal can unleash a heavier, grungy distortion.

Like the Tauren, the Uzi sports an LED ambient lighting system, which can come in handy on a dark stage.
