Korg has revealed two new NuTekt pedals, the TR-S tube amp emulator and the HD-S Distortion, which you can build yourself with ease.

With no soldering required, each pedal comes with all the tools you’ll need to assemble it, including a handy circuit diagram. The new pair join the brand’s OD-S overdrive pedal, which was announced back at NAMM 2020, continuing the line up of build-it-yourself NuTekt stompboxes.

The layout for each is relatively the same as the OD-S, featuring four control knobs, a bypass footswitch and LED light. This time round each model comes with a small screen and three additional internal parameters, however.

Korg’s Nutube technology also makes a return, in the TR-S only, which Korg says will give guitarists the “feel of a tube amp even when recording or playing through a transistor amp”. On this pedal, there’s controls for Volume, Power Sag, Tube Gain and Mix, which goes from Direct to Tube.

The HD-S, on the other hand, hosts three different distortion circuits, and Korg itself says the pedal is eligible for use with other instruments as well as guitars, such as basses, synths and more. Volume, Tone, Gate and Gain controls are situated on this model, and Korg believes it can unlock “as-yet undiscovered sounds”.

The NuTekt TR-S and HD-S have a price point of £199, you can find out more at Korg.co.uk.
