NAMM 2020: We stopped by the Larrivée booth to see what guitars were on show from the boutique brand.

First up was the T10, a “travel guitar for the pros.” It comes in at a short 22.8-inch scale length, and the no-cutaway body starts at the 14th fret. The bridge is located nearer to the centre of the body, compensating for the smaller body in terms of low-end and volume output. The neck, joined to the body with a dovetail, is solid African Mahogany.

The guitar we saw at the show had seen some special NAMM treatment, including the use of Alpine spruce (also known as moon spruce), and a custom vine fretboard inlay and headstock design. The marbled binding, however, will come as standard.

We also were shown the C-03R-TE, which was introduced last year as a signature guitar for Tommy Emmanuel. The guitar takes inspiration from the special one-off custom guitar built for Emmanuel by Jean Larrivée over 20 years ago. The guitar features a 12th-fret body join, a deep ‘Florentine’ cutaway and a Sitka spruce top.

The last guitar we took a look at was the LV-10, which like the T10 had received some special inlay work for Winter NAMM – as well as a Moon Spruce top. As John Larrivée Jr explains in our video, “we like to come to and show people not only what great guitars we build, but also the possibilities.”
