Line 6 issues update to Relay G10 Transmitter to prevent potential fire risk

Line 6 has announced a firmware update to its Relay G10 wireless products that will mitigate potential fire risk.

The brand informed users today (17 March) that Relay G10, Relay G10S and Relay G10T models purchased before March 2020 require corrective action. According to Line 6, remedying the situation “simply requires users to install a firmware update” which should take five minutes to complete. The correct firmware version is 1.06.

The brand notes on its website that several instances of “extreme overheating and a risk of fire” have been reported since the wireless system’s introduction in 2016. It added: “All instances of overheating reportedly occurred during charging.”

The safety alert is the second Line 6 has raised for these G10 models, which the brand hopes will reach customers who missed the first “recall-to-repair” order – issued with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission – in March 2020.

Line 6 also urged customers who purchased the optional G10T USB Charging Cable to discontinue its use, as it may also contribute to extreme overheating. The brand is offering refunds to owners who “provide satisfactory proof of [the cable’s] destruction”.
