Martin has unveiled the DX-Johnny Cash, an all-black acoustic guitar that’s an update of the 2006 D-35 Johnny Cash.

The design of the guitar is based on a custom all-black D-35 that the late musician had asked Martin to build in the early 1970s. The guitar would join Cash on stage for years afterwards, and became an iconic part of his all-black aesthetic.

The DX Johnny Cash has been designed in collaboration with John Carter Cash and the Cash Foundation management team. The guitar’s dreadnought-shaped body is constructed from jet-black HPL (high-pressure laminate), while the neck is inlaid with star-shaped fret markers, alongside the CASH logo on the 18th fret. The DX-Johnny cash comes with Fishman MX electronics, and a soft gig-bag embroidered with the CASH logo.

The DX Johnny Cash lists for $799, and is available now. More information at Martinguitar.com.
