Phil Jones Bass has unveiled the C2 bass cabinet, a 200-watt powerhouse condensed into a tiny unit that should still kick out the required rumble.

The unit is around shoebox-sized (0.87 cubic feet, according to the brand), and is loaded with two five-inch Phil Jones Bass-exclusive ‘Chrome Dome’ speakers, which despite their small radius are still able to recreate the full frequency spectrum of a bass. Each driver contains a powerful strontium ferrite magnet, moved around by Phil Jones Bass’ high-temperature speaker coils.

Like other Phil Jones Bass products, the brand prides itself on the unit’s “lightning-fast” transient response as a result of this unique speaker design. The brand also compares the speedy response of the speakers to the feel of an acoustic bass guitar, which responds instantaneously to your playing. At lower frequencies especially, faster speaker cone acceleration means the nuances of dynamic playing come through much clearer.

The small speaker cab can be used as your only speaker cab, or in conjunction with other Phil Jones Bass 8 ohm cabinets. You can also chain it to the brand’s combos, including the C4, C8, C27, BG-400 Suitcase Compact, and others.

The miniature unit bears a resemblance to the recently launched Bass Cub II, a combo amplifier from the brand that also sported finely-tuned speakers for fast acceleration.
