PRS has announced two new signature models, in addition to the six new models announced last week for its 2020 range: the SE Mark Holcomb SVN and the DW (Dustie Waring of Between The Buried And Me) CE 24 Floyd.

The SE Mark Holcomb SVN is a hardtail seven-string that builds off the Periphery guitarist’s 2018 six-string signature SE. This seven-string version caters to those looking to deliver drop-G# riffs while retaining the playing-ease and versatility PRS is known for.

“My SE SVN has become the perfect counterpart to my SE six-string, and an absolute mainstay in Periphery’s live rig,” Holcomb says about the guitar. “It’s designed to be aggressive but its core features allow it to be diverse enough to handle clean and mid-gain tones just as effectively. If you’ve played my SE six, you’ll find that this builds off what we established with that guitar and more.”

The guitar includes a 24-fret, 26.5-inch scale length – an extra inch and a half compared to most SE models for a more solid feel at low tunings. The maple neck features a 20” radius and an ebony fretboard. The seven strings are secured with a string-through plate style bridge.

Loaded in the body are Holcomb’s signature Seymour Duncan Alpha and Omega seven-string pickups, balancing output and articulation. These run through three-way blade selector and coil-tapping push-pull knobs. A string-through, plate-style, seven-string bridge. The guitar’s mahogany and maple body comes finished in either a signature Holcomb Burst with a quilted maple veneer, or in natural satin with a walnut veneer.

Versatility remains a core focus with the introduction of the DW CE 24 Floyd. Dustie Waring says he’s “proud” to have his name on this guitar – which features a 25-inch scale-length, with a 24-fret maple neck and maple fretboard. The mahogany body features a maple top, and is loaded with Waring’s signature Mojotone DW Tomahawk humbuckers. The five-way blade selector switch is in a new position to make way for the Floyd Rose tremolo bridge.

The guitar comes finished in Gray Burst, Faded Blue Burst, Burnt Amber Smokeburst or Waring’s signature Waring Burst.

The SE Mark Holcomb SVN lists for £999, and the DW CE 24 Floyd lists for £2,535. More information at prsguitars.com
