PRS has announced the Limited Edition McCarty 594 Singlecut Joe Walsh, an electric guitar made in collaboration with the Eagles’ guitarist. The release is set to be extremely limited, with only 200 pieces available worldwide.

The guitar is loaded with PRS 58/15 LT+ pickups, which are voiced for a vintage level of output and clarity. They can also be split for a more dynamic single-coil sound. Its construction in some areas follows close to the regular McCarty 594 blueprint, for example, there’s a bound 22-fret neck that clocks in at a short 24.594-inch scale length, with a ‘Pattern Vintage’ profile to its back. Conversely, the back of the guitar is a little thicker than usual for “enhanced tone and sustain.”

There’s also the notable presence of stainless steel frets, which have a smoother feel and are less susceptible to wear than some other fret materials. Tonewoods consist of a carved figured maple top and mahogany back and neck, with Brazilian rosewood for the fretboard.

Joe Walsh himself said of the model: “I don’t like new guitars, but out of the box this is absolutely perfect. All the stuff on a new guitar that I always have to try to fix, is already done here. Out of the box. Thank you, Paul.”

Paul Reed Smith added: “Joe’s endorsement of the McCarty 594 Singlecut Joe Walsh Limited Edition means the world to me. We work very hard to keep pushing the guitar-making craft forward without losing sight of its rich history. The McCarty models have always embodied that balance, and to have a player like Joe Walsh say we’ve nailed it is heartwarming.”

The guitar lists for $6550. Find out more at prsguitars.com.
