Quilter launches the Aviator Cub, a 1×12 combo packed with three Fender-inspired voices

Quilter Labs has launched the Aviator Cub, a new solid-state combo amplifier, a small 1×12 unit that the brand calls “more than just a Blues Junior killer.”

The Aviator Cub offers three solid-state amplification voices, each modelled after a different style of old-school Fender amplifier: a 1960 Tweed, a 1962 Blonde and a 1965 Black Panel, each accessible via its own quarter-inch input jack.

The amp’s controls consist of a preamp gain level, as well as a three-band EQ and limiter threshold control. There’s also onboard reverb, controlled by a single knob, as well as an effects loop and separate outputs for line and headphone signals, as well as a master volume control for the power amp stage.

This power amp drives a 12-inch custom-designed Eminence speaker, rated at 50 watts to handle the full range of volumes offered by the three voices.

Quilter also notes that it’s quite a portable amp, weighing in at 9.8kg. For reference, the Fender Blues Junior that Quilter draws comparison to weighs around 14kg. This, combined with its hefty power output and compact size, could make it a rather formidable gigging combo – once gigging is safe to do again.
