RJM Music announces the Overture, a programmable overdrive with an analogue signal path

Combining the best of digital and analogue.

RJM Music Technology has announced the Overture, a new overdrive pedal that offers programmable functionality while retaining a fully analogue signal path.

The pedal sports six discrete overdrive modes: Classic, Boutique, Versatile, Smooth, Clean Boost and Crunch. While Clean Boost and Crunch feature circuit designs by RJM Music, the other four are based on classic and oft-cloned pedals. On top of these, there’s a separate pre-boost circuit that can add up to 12dB to the input stage of any of the sounds.

The pedal’s onboard controls allow for tweaking of volume, gain, bass and treble, as well as the level of the pre-boost. For extra dynamics, the Overture also boosts its standard 9V power to 18V internally.

Players can make use of the pedal’s programmability by saving up to eight presets, which can be recalled with the pedal’s footswitches. Using a MIDI controller expands the number of available presets to 100. For even more control, parameters can be adjusted in real-time using MIDI CC. Two 5-pin DIN MIDI connectors are available, as well as a USB-C port for connecting the unit to a PC or phone.

The Overture is expected to begin shipping on 1 March 2021, and lists for $399. Find out more at rjmmusic.com.
