NAMM 2021: Seymour Duncan has teamed with modern blues hero Joe Bonamassa for the Signature “Bonnie” Strat single-coil pickup set.

The pickups recreate the ones found in a particular ‘55 Fender Stratocaster from Bonamassa’s collection – what he calls “the best damn Strat” he’s ever played.

They’re available in a set of three single-coils (limited to 550 sets) or in a loaded pickguard (limited to 100 sets).

According to Seymour Duncan, attention to detail was the name of the game with the “Bonnie” pickup set. They feature “era-accurate” cloth pushback lead wires, black Forbon flatwork, Alnico IV rod magnets and a uniform 5.96k rating. Even the plastic covers were modelled after the aged vintage look of the original.

As for the pickguard edition, it features a few personal touches by Bonamassa himself, including custom .1uF “Phone Book” capacitors, a five-way pickup selector with modern switch tip, mini skirt control knobs and a trio of 250k CTS potentiometers.

Watch Bonamassa demo the “Bonnie” Strat pickups below:

The “Bonnie” Strat pickup set has a price tag of $355, while the pickguard edition will go for $550.
