Ola Englund‘s electric guitar company, Solar Guitars, has introduced four new mid-priced models to its Type-X range.

These new models – the X1.6AN, X1.6C, X1.6 Canibalismo+ and X1.7MP+ – come hot on the tail of the brand’s first high-end electric model, the XF6FRFSB, which made its debut earlier this month.

The new, more affordable designs are included in the brand’s pre-existing Type-X range – which is inspired by the late Pantera guitarist, Dimebag Darrell.

Up first are the two most wallet-friendly designs, the X1.6AN and X1.6C. Both priced at $1,299, these models are nearly identical in terms of spec, both featuring an alder body, a 24,75”, thin C-shaped, three-piece maple neck and ebony fretboard.

22 super jumbo frets come included on both designs, as well as Duncan Solar humbuckers. These can be adjusted by the incorporated volume knob, tone knob with push/pull coil-splitting abilities, and three-way toggle pickup switch.

The only difference between the two is that the X1.6 AN comes with an Antique Natural finish, as referenced in the name, while the X1.6C comes sporting a black matte Carbon colourway, seen above.

The Canibalismo+, on the other hand, incorporates a few more differences from its X1.6 siblings. Unlike its counterparts, this model incorporates a Swamp Ash body and Duncan SolarPlus humbuckers, as well as a simplified control set that removes the tone knob. Priced at $1,399, the design has a black splatter over a red open-pore matte finish.

Finally, the X1.7MP+ is the only seven-string of the new models, and comes in a Metallic Purple Gloss colourway. For the most part, this model shares similarities to the previous three designs, featuring a Swamp Ash body, thin C-shaped, three-piece, 25.5″ maple neck and ebony fretboard with 22 super jumbo frets.

Two Duncan Solar Plus humbuckers are also embedded and controlled by the same set of controls as seen in the X1.6AN, and X1.6C models. This is the most expensive of the new designs, costing $1,499.
