Solar Guitars has launched the V1.6 Artist, the latest addition to the range of high-spec’d metal-focused guitars.

While the guitar is designed with quite a no-frills approach, the features on offer are aimed at touring musicians to provide a reliable metal workhorse. The guitar’s V-shaped swamp ash body has the grain on clear display, coming in either an open-pore black or an open-pore red finish. It’s loaded with two Seymour Duncan Solar humbuckers, and control-wise features only a three-way selector switch and a master volume control. The Evertune bridge and 18:1 Solar locking tuners mean, with any luck, you’ll measure how often the V1.6 goes out of tune with a calendar as opposed to a watch.

The 25.5” scale length should also provide a snappier feel at lower tunings, and the 24 frets are all easily accessible due to the nature of the V style combined with a set-through neck. Along the neck’s side are glow-in-the-dark fret markers for quickly grabbing the right frets on a dark stage.

The V1.6 isn’t the only new Solar Artist for 2019, with the A1.7 also getting an Artist makeover this year.
