Online listings posted by various dealers have revealed the existence of a new Squier Affinity Jazzmaster, available in Lake Placid Blue or Burgundy Mist and outfitted with some more traditional specifications when compared to the current Affinity Jazzmaster.

The early listings reveal that the guitar has a poplar body, a slim maple neck and a 21-fret Indian Laurel Fretboard. Hardware and electronics specifications are quite different to the current Affinity Jazzmaster offering, which has two humbucker pickups and six-saddle hardtail bridge. Instead, The new Affinity Jazzmasters come with ceramic single-coils and a Stratocaster–style vibrato system.Squier Affinity Jazzmaster

It’s a step towards a more traditional Jazzmaster for the ultra-affordable Affinity line, but it’s not a complete leap to fully-vintage specifications. There’s a notable lack of a two-piece offset vibrato, and no rhythm circuit to alter the pickups’ sound. The pickups themselves are ceramic rather than alnico, too. While these specs might deter those looking to acquire a Fender-style offset on a budget, the ultra-low price makes it an appealing choice for beginners, or as a modification platform.

Official information about the new product is forthcoming, but dealers have listed the models for £239.
