D’Addario has introduced XT strings, the brand’s most technologically advanced strings thus far. These will be available in six categories: electric, acoustic, classical, bass, mandolin and banjo.

A product of D’Addario’s R&D work, the new strings feature a combination of high carbon steel cores, the brand’s most popular alloys as well as extended lifespan treatment. The last of these is touted to improve on three factors – break resistance, pitch stability and sustained performance – while still retaining the tone and feel of uncoated strings.

The new strings have impressed Grammy-winning jazz guitarist Pat Metheny, who commented: “I’m usually more focused on the notes rather than the strings. But with XT, there’s an evenness and clarity that really jumps out.”

Available in September at a range of list prices starting from $9.99. More info at daddario.com.
