Gibson announced its new-for-2019 Original Series collection a few months ago as one of its first ranges under new management. These guitars were not only front and centre at Gibson’s Summer NAMM 2019 booth – Gibson CMO Cesar Gueikian himself was on hand to demo the SG Standard ’61 with Maestro Vibrola. Watch the video above.

The guitar is a throwback to vintage SGs, most notably in the Maestro Vibrola tremolo system – a smooth vibrato not unlike a Bigsby. The engraved lyre on the tailpiece adds to the retro vibe, as do the two Burstbucker 61R and 61T humbuckers. Elsewhere, the electric features a mahogany body, a slim taper mahogany neck, a bound rosewood fingerboard and a tune-o-matic bridge.
