Following the modern remakes of the Tri Tone and Ozark, Supro has once again dipped into its archives to re-introduce the Silverwood. First appearing in Supro’s 1960 catalogue with the tagline of “Finest Electric”, this 2019 edition features choice tonewoods, ergonomic body contours and pair of authentic Gold Foil pickups.

The 2019 Silverwood is available in either a mahogany or ash body. It also features a maple neck, a 24.75-inch scale length and a glued-in, set-neck joint that enhances upper fret access. Other tonewoods include a dark-hued pau ferro fingerboard that complements the black satin finish on the back of the neck.

This reissue boasts a pair of Supro Gold Foil pickups, which originally surfaced in the mid-50s under the moniker “Clear Tone”. The Gold Foils are said to be capable of high-output single-coil tone with great articulation across all frequencies. They can be counted on for genres such as rock, blues, funk and R&B.

As for controls, the 2019 Silverwood sports master controls for both tone and volume. These feature 50s wiring which, according to the brand, lets you tweak the volume knob without losing any top-end sparkle.

The 2019 Silverwood is available in four finishes, Daphne Blue, Ash Natural, British Racing Green and Transparent Red. The former two are priced at $899, and the latter two at $849.
