Greek pedal manufacturer Tsakalis Audio Works has launched the Molecular Boost, a mini stompbox that packs in a boost, buffer and volume pedal.

The small unit is controlled mainly by a single knob for adding up to 18dB of clean boost, along with four dip switches on the side of the unit. The first two of these set the boost frequency range, allowing for a total of four different EQ characteristics to the boost. The third engages a high-cut filter if there’s too much bite to your tone, and the fourth engages the expression pedal input if you want to use the Molecular Boost as a volume pedal.

Inside, the standard pedal power supply is doubled to 18v, meaning extra headroom and a wider range of input levels. A dual-FET opamp is designed to match the impedance of most guitar pickups, and so keeps the character of your guitar intact – especially if running in buffer mode. A true bypass mode is also accessible via an internal switch, but the buffer bypass combined with the impedance-matching opamp should help mitigate treble loss from lengthy cables.

The Molecular Boost lists for €159, and is available for preorder now, shipping on 15 April. For more information, head on over to tsakalisaudioworks.com. For more gear news, click here.
