You might have heard of YouTuber Burl Arts from his projects in which he builds electric guitars out of unusual materials.

But instead of another coloured pencil axe, the home luthier has unleashed a different sort of creation: an electric body with a ‘river’ running through the length of its body. He used epoxy resin, which is usually applied as a coat of laminate on woods, to create the effect.

Blue micro powder is first mixed into epoxy resin, which is then poured into a cavity formed between two slabs of quilted maple. The result? A unique electric guitar whose ‘bridge’ takes on a more literal meaning.

Watch the extensive construction process and a demo of the guitar in the video above.
