Is Behringer launching a marketplace for gear?

A video uploaded to its parent company’s YouTube channel seems to imply just that.

It seems as though Behringer, manufacturer of stompboxes, synths and other music gear, is launching its own marketplace, with the interesting twist of having no fees – if the video above is anything to go by. The clip was uploaded to the YouTube channel of Behringer’s holding company, Music Tribe.

The video above teases us with scant details (something of a trend recently for Behringer, with both the launch of its Wing mixing desk and Wasp and Poly D synthesiser being teased extensively and mysteriously before their release) – simply the words: “Post. Offer. Buy. Sell. For Free.” This does point towards a marketplace of some sort, and if so it will come into competition with Reverb and eBay.

What this will mean for guitarists and general music gear collectors is unclear at present – other than, in true Behringer fashion, there might be a cheaper option for selling gear on the horizon. As the title of the video is Buy and Sell. For Free. Soon, be sure to stay tuned to Guitar.com for any updates.
