UK pedal company Bigfoot Engineering has announced that it is terminating all of its dealer and distributor relationships, and is now going to only sell directly to customers.

In a social media post, Bigfoot Engineering’s director Rhys Stubbs explained that the decision was one he was “saddened” to take. He thanked the dealers and distributors for the help they had given the company, but explained that “I don’t believe that Bigfoot can survive for much longer if I don’t take this move.”

“Now I’m seeing my prices online being completely trashed… our retail prices don’t have enough margin in them to be ground down that much. I understand how competitive the online retail market is, but I think for a small independent family business… I don’t think it’s fair on us.”

He also added: “I don’t want to increase my prices, equally, I can’t afford to decrease them,”

In the written caption to the video message, Stubbs wrote: Looking to the future, our own online store can now flourish with your ongoing support. Every pedal will continue to be lovingly hand-made in England, and I look forward to dedicating my time and energy to serving you all personally and directly henceforth. I will endeavour to provide the very highest standard of customer service worthy of our name.”

Bigfoot Engineering makes a number of guitar effects pedals, including EQ pedals, boosters, fuzzes and overdrives. You can see its store at bigfootengineering.com.
