As we slide into 2020’s “year in review” season, some interesting analytics have come to light about the past year in effects pedals, thanks to Reverb.com.

Following on from last week’s look back, which showed us what the top-selling individual effects pedals were from the year as a whole, and the top-selling pedals that came out in 2020, Reverb’s The Pedal Movie has posted some insight into what brands dominated the new and used markets on the site.

Examining the top pedal brands by order volume for used and new, two companies take home either first or second place – Boss and Electro-Harmonix. Boss sold the most used pedals, with EHX close behind, while EHX sold the most new pedals, this time with Boss close behind.

The reasons for this could be a number of things – both brands are incredibly prolific, with many different stompboxes under their names, many of which are quite affordable. Many Boss and EHX pedals – used and new – go for around $100. These brands also having classics under their belts, like the DS-1 or the Big Muff, could have also played into how many used units they shifted.

On the list of top-selling pedal brands for new pedals, Chase Bliss, JHS and EQD also snuck into the list, while the used list sees MXR, TC Electronic and Digitech make appearances. Check out the full stats in The Pedal Movie’s post below.
