A host of guitar stars have donated signed guitars to the Jason Becker Reverb shop in order to raise money for the ALS-stricken virtuoso’s medical expenses.

The news comes after it was revealed Becker was hospitalised after experiencing persistent shortness of breath and a rapid heart rate. His mother explained that “Jason is aware of, and overwhelmed by the outpouring of prayers and love coming his way. He was feeling better for a while, but the annoying shortness of breath and rapid heart rate kept coming and going. The doctor felt it was best to admit him to the hospital, which is what we are doing.”
So far donations to the Reverb store include Joe Satriani’s Flame, his custom-painted Ibanez JS signature guitar that he played during 2004’s G3 tour, an Ibanez signature model donated by Kiss’ Paul Stanley, a signed Jackson signature model from Jeff Loomis, and more guitars from Mark Tremonti, Trivium, Nili Brosh, and Zoltan Bathory from Five Finger Death Punch.
A statement on Reverb.com notes that more donated guitars and merchandise are to be added in the coming week.
Following Beckers’ diagnosis with ALS, which he has been living with for over 30 years, Becker has continued to compose music with the aid of a computer. His latest record, Triumphant Hearts, was released in 2018. It featured a guestlist of a number of notable virtuosic guitarists, including many of those donating instruments to the store. Marty Friedman, Joe Satriani, Jeff Loomis, Richie Kotzen, Gus G., Greg Howe, Steve Morse, Paul Gilbert and Steve Vai all contributed to the record.
