Fender has just dropped the ’59 Twin-Amp Joe Bonamassa Edition, a reissue of the company’s popular ‘high-powered’ ’59 tweed Twin-Amp. And when it comes to fresh gear—besides pedals, perhaps—Bonamassa is completely unabashed: “The king of amps is back! It’s one of the greatest, if not the greatest amplifier ever built.”

Bonamassa’s bold claim is backed by the impressive list of features packed into this 80-watt behemoth. The ’59 Twin-Amp boasts a Fender 5F8A circuit, hand-wired eyelet board and vintage-inspired ‘yellow’ paper-foil-resin tone capacitors for that authentic, tweed-era tone.

Choose between two channels, “Bright” and “Normal,” with high- and low-gain inputs for both. A trio of 12AX7 and four 6L6 tubes power this machine, giving you all the sweet overdriven sounds that’s the stuff of a tonehead’s dreams. Mercury Magnetics transformers and 2×12-inch Celestion JB85 speakers round up the feature set of this high-powered, rock-ready amp.

“The 1959 ‘high-powered tweed’ Twin-Amp is one of the most collectible guitar amplifiers of all time,” said Shane Nicholas, director of product development and electronics at Fender. “They sound amazing for almost any type of music, are rare, and highly sought-after by rock stars and collectors. We’re proud to work with Joe Bonamassa on the ‘59 Twin-Amp JB Edition, as he is not only a great guitarist, but a fanatic collector of Fender guitars, memorabilia and amps—including the tweed Twin models he began performing with several years ago.”

The Fender ’59 Twin-Amp JB Edition lists for $3,499.99, and is available exclusively from joebonamassa.com.
