At Winter NAMM 2018, Koll Guitars announced several updates to its repertoire of retrolicious six-strings: a refreshed Troubadour line-up and a brand-new series, the Super Cub.
The first model out of the 2018 Troubadour range is a Burgundy Mist Metallic beauty. It has a contoured alder body in Koll’s Glide shape, a bolt-on maple neck, a rosewood fretboard and a pair of Lollar wide-range humbuckers. Koll plans on releasing four more Troubadours in a bucketful of options, including TV Jones and Curtis Novak pickups, ash bodies and maple fretboards.

Alongside the new Troubadours, Koll—which, interestingly, counts Helvetica and Objectified filmmaker Gary Hustwit as a partner—also debuted three prototypes from the upcoming Super Cub series during NAMM. These are inspired by the old-school Epiphone Wilshire, Harmony Bobkat and Melody Maker, and will be equipped with period-appropriate pickups and hardware, such as Novak Gold Foils and Bigsby tremolos.
The Troubadours list for $3,400, while the Super Cubs will start from the “low $3,000 range,” according to Koll. For more information, check out kollguitars.com.
