From self-isolation, almost 40 musicians around the world have collaborated on a cover of a song appropriate for these times: the BeatlesCome Together.

The cover is the first single off a collaborative album, Alone Together, which will be released on 1 May. Aside from the Beatles cover, the record features 13 tracks all written, recorded, produced, mixed and mastered from the homes of the participating musicians, as they stay indoors following self-isolating advice due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Listen to their take on the Fab Four tune here:

The full record was initiated by London-based musician and writer Adam Lee and LA-based singer Jessica Louise. The project has since roped in 39 collaborators in total, including guitarists, singers and producers such as Emily C. Browning, David Ryan Harris, Colin Cook and Juan Ariza.

All proceeds from the album will go towards the World Health Organization and United Nation’s COVID-19 Solidarity Response Fund.

In a statement about the project, Louise said, “This album is a time-capsule. It acts as a collective experience of this time in our lives.”

Lee added: “We can’t believe the legs this project got! It all started out with me and Jessica just reaching out to some of our closest collaborators, but then it just started growing exponentially. It’s been really cool to see how digital tools allow these talented musicians to create such fantastic, multi-faceted music from their own homes.”

The record is also being released in partnership with music distribution and artist services company Amuse, which offers tools such as royalty splits and team accounts to ease the release and management of music.

Diego Farias, co-founder and CEO of Amuse, explained how well the project fits with Amuse’s services: “Managing rights, royalty payouts and reports on how the music is performing would normally be a very time-consuming job for a big collaborative project like this, but our newly launched Pro service automates these tasks in a seamless way, helping creatives focus on what matters: the music. Companies like ours don’t exist without creators and now is the time to assist them to find new ways to work together.”
