Fender has added six of Billie Eilish’s songs to its guitar, bass and ukulele lesson app Fender Play.
The songs that can be learnt through the app include &burn, my strange addiction, ocean eyes, Six Feet Under, watch and when the party’s over. The app, first introduced in 2017, has a wide catalogue of lessons available. The service is targeted at getting new players started, and helping intermediate players get even better. Lessons are broken up into circuits for Rock, Blues, Folk, Country and Pop, with each genre offering five levels of about 16 to 21 lessons each.
Fender said in a statement that the addition of Billie Eilish’s songs is particularly apt right now, writing: “Fender has noticed that many Fender Play users are utilising the app as a way to destress, reduce anxiety and enjoy the many benefits of playing an instrument, and with Billie being a big advocate for mental health awareness and self-care, the pairing of this app and her music makes it all the more relevant and important.”
Given the recent lockdown measures put in place due to COVID-19, Fender announced that it would be offering three months of free lessons to 100,000 new users – Fender said also said about this that “since the start of Fender’s giveaway … nearly 1 million people have signed up for Fender Play, which is an indication that learning to play or practising has been a beautiful distraction during COVID-19.”
From 5 PM GMT today, until Thursday 23 July, users can also receive three months of free lessons by signing up via this link.
