Black Sabbath announce super deluxe edition of Paranoid to celebrate its 50th Anniversary

Black Sabbath have announced a ‘Super Deluxe’ box set version of their seminal 1970 album Paranoid, in celebration of its 50th anniversary.

The set comes as either a five-LP or four-CD edition. The first discs include the 2012 remaster of the original album, and then a rare quadraphonic mix from 1974, which has been folded down to stereo for this release.

As well as this, the collection houses recordings of two 1970 performances by Sabbath – Montreux and Brussels. At both of these shows, they played tracks from Paranoid as well as their self-titled debut album. This box set is also the vinyl debut of both performances.

Paranoid, released in September 1970 contains some of the most influential early metal songs ever recorded, including War Pigs, Iron Man, the ethereal Planet Caravan and of course the title track.

The Five-LP edition lists for £100, while the CD edition lists for £75. There’s the option to purchase them both together for £160. Both are released on 9 September this year. Preorder the set here.
