Boygenius, the collaborative project of Julien Baker, Phoebe Bridgers, and Lucy Dacus have released three previously unheard demos to tie in with Bandcamp’s latest revenue-waived Friday, today (3 July).

The three tracks include early versions of Bite The Hand, Me & My Dog and Stay Down, recorded at a rehearsal the day before the trio stepped into the studio to track their 2018 self-titled EP.

These have been announced to be available on the Boygenius Bandcamp page only from 8 a.m BST on Friday 3 July to 8 a.m BST on Saturday, 4 July.

Proceeds from sales of the tracks will be donated towards three charities especially selected by Baker, Bridgers and Dacus. These, respectively, are OUTMemphis, Downtown Women’s Center and Mutual Aid Disaster Relief Richmond.

Bandcamp’s revenue-waived Fridays began as a measure to support musicians amid the COVID-19 pandemic, as most live shows and touring continue to remain off the cards. On 19 June, the website also stood in solidarity with movements for racial justice, commemorating Juneteeth by donating 100 per cent of its share of sales towards the NAACP Legal Defense Fund.

Incidentally, Canadian punk quartet PUP also announced the release of their first live album, similarly available today for just 24 hours.
