Watch: Brian May puts his own spin on the sea shanty craze

Brian May has thrown his hat into the sea shanty craze that is, inexplicably, taking the world by storm.
On 1 February 2021, the mid-19th century sea shanty Wellerman landed at number one in the UK charts thanks to the help of TikTok star Nathan Evans. It’s a reflection of the wider craze – where songs that were traditionally sung to keep spirits up throughout long periods of isolation are being brought back into popularity. For some reason.
Paying tribute to the craze, Queen guitarist Brian May posted his own version of the tune, played on a BMG Special finished in “The Pinkest Of Pinks.” Take a look below.
Recently, Brian May Guitars also announced its first signature model (for another artist, if the Red Special is to be counted), a triple-pickup offset of US singer-songwriter Arielle.
