Brian May recently lent his guitar playing hand to London band, King’s Daughter on their single, Get Up. A music video for the song came out yesterday (15 April), and featured May – along with fans from around the world – rocking along virtually.

The music video for Get Up focuses attention on mental health in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic. The song, which was co-produced, and co-written by May will see 10% of its proceeds go towards MIND, a mental health charity.

Earlier this year, King’s Daughter launched a successful Indiegogo campaign to fund the release of the single, raising close to £14,000 out of their initial goal of £10,000. On their Indiegogo page, the young band explained on the creation of Get Up:

“Brian May got hold of one of our demos, Get Up in April 2019 and offered to put his producing gloves on. We recorded the track in Brian’s studio along with bass player Rosetta Carr and horn section Apex Horns.”

While practicing self-isolation, May has recently been taking to sharing guitar micro concerts and lessons via his Instagram account. Since then, fans worldwide have been jamming along to his videos, even posting complete band covers on the internet.
