Sequel to Chris Cornell’s covers album in the works

A sequel to No One Sings Like You Anymore, Chris Cornell’s posthumously released covers album, is in the works.

Vicky Cornell, the grunge icon’s widow, confirmed a second volume of covers recorded by Chris. Unlike the first, however, they weren’t arranged to a particular track order by him before his death.

“There is a volume two,” she told the Rizzuto Show. “The thing with this volume one, though, that makes it special is that he mastered it, he sequenced it – this is all Chris right from beginning to end. And the other one was mastered, not sequenced, volume two.”

Elsewhere in her interview, Vicky also revealed that before his death, the Soundgarden and Audioslave vocalist left behind an abundance of unreleased material.

“Because he was just such a prolific writer, we’re blessed, because he has left us lots of music,” she said. “Not in completely finished form, but there’s enough to work with, and the Cornell stamp is all over it. So that’s really special. There’s a lot of music.”

No One Sings Like You Anymore – which gets its name from Soundgarden’s Black Hole Sun – features 10 covers recorded by the late musician with Superunknown engineer Brendan O’Brien in 2016.

The covers album came out in December 2020 and included songs by John Lennon, Janis Joplin and Prince. It also included the rendition of Guns N’ Roses’ Patience which earned the late musician his first solo No. 1 on the Billboard Chart in 2020.
