Coldplay, during their appearance on Annie Mac’s BBC Radio 1 show, covered Crystal Waters’ house classic, Gypsy Woman (She’s Homeless). You can watch the clip above.

The performance was recorded at Maida Vale Studios, with the house cover coming as a surprise to even the band themselves – frontman Chris Martin ended the song with “Let’s fade it out boys, let’s fade it out now… Annie, you better rescue us because we don’t know how to end this!” Martin also noted that the inspiration to put a Coldplay spin on the song came from Belgian artist Stromae, who sampled the song on his last tour.

Coldplay’s latest album Everyday Life was released last month, and followed news from the band that they would reconsider touring until they could find ways to make it more “environmentally benificial.” Until then, the band also recorded performances of tracks from their new album in the same Maida Vale session.
