David Crosby has spoken out against his former bandmate Neil Young, calling him the “most selfish person he knows” in a recent interview.

Dashing hopes for a Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young reunion, the 80-year-old musician explained that some “petty-assed bullshit” has kept the band apart, and he doesn’t expect reconciliation to come any time soon.

“Neil has got a genuine beef,” Crosby told The Guardian. “I did say something bad about his girlfriend [actor Daryl Hannah]. I said I thought she was a predator. OK, he can be mad at me. That’s all right.”

But after admitting his wrongdoing, Crosby went on to call Young “probably the most self-centred, self-obsessed, selfish person” he knew. “He only thinks about Neil, period,” he said. “That’s the only person he’ll consider. Ever!”

Elsewhere in the conversation, Crosby also spoke out against Graham Nash, who he said “just changed from the guy I thought was my best friend to being a guy that is definitely my enemy”.

Earlier this June, Crosby said he let down the members of the folk supergroup by “becoming a junkie” in the 1980s. He was arrested in 1982 for drug and firearms possession and was sentenced to five years in prison.

“For that, I’ve apologised a million times,” Crosby said at the time. “And the best apology I could make was to beat it and to come up and be useful again.”

Graham Nash seems to echo Crosby’s sentiments. In May this year, Nash revealed that while Stephen Stills, Neil Young and himself “talk often”, the trio stay away from David.

“You know, when that silver thread that connects a band gets broken, it’s very difficult to glue the ends together,” Nash said at the time. “It doesn’t quite work. And so, things that happened to me in David’s life broke that silver thread, and for the life of me, I can’t put it back together.”
