Deerhoof launch surprise covers album Love-Lore
The 35-minute release comprises 43 covers from multiple decades.

Experimental indie music group Deerhoof have surprised fans with a new studio release: Love-Lore. The title is a medley of 43 cover tunes, broken into five tracks. It was released digitally, and for free, through Joyful Noise.
The recording of Love-Lore took place in a single afternoon at the Manhattan-based Rivington Rehearsal Studios. It features music from various decades, written by a very diverse range of artists from free jazz pioneer Ornette Coleman to legendary film composer Ennio Morricone to Russian composer Igor Stravinsky to bands the likes of Kraftwerk, the B-52s and many more.
Joyful Noise Recordings described the album as an attempt “to reflect upon the overly optimistic promises of progress that humanity was fed across the culture and music of the post-war era.” Take a listen below:
A virtual listening session and round table discussion for Love-Lore with Deerhoof also took place live earlier today (29 September) on Joyful Noise’s YouTube channel.

The release of Love-Lore follows that of Deerhoof’s Future Teenage Cave Artists from earlier this year. Initially, the band had planned to embark on two tours in May and June in support of the release; however, those plans were rescheduled due to COVID-19.
