Sadly not with progressive metal, but still.

Prog-metal guitarist and vocalist Devin Townsend has revealed that he’s soundtracked a new show for the BBC’s Cbeebies, entitled Colours.
Tweeting about the soundtrack yesterday (22 March), Townsend posted the news and described the timetabling pressure taking on the job led to – he’s currently in the middle of making his follow-up to Empath, Puzzle.
A fan asked him if his score was across the entire show, to which he replied: “Yep. 14 episodes. All the music. Nearly broke me,” before signing off with a smiley face.
Yep. 14 episodes. All the music. Nearly broke me 🙂

The show itself, aimed at children under six, is an exploration of colours and their associations, with each episode taking a deep dive into a particular colour or set of colours. UK readers can watch the show on the BBC iPlayer here – so far, seven episodes have been broadcast. The trailer, featuring a snippet of Townsend’s ambient score, can be seen below.
While going from progressive metal to a children’s television show might seem like quite a leap, Townsend’s music is known for spanning wild combinations of genres. His latest record Empath introduced everything from musical theatre elements to ethereal ambience to, of course, blastbeat-filled death metal.
Listening to Enya and eating oatmeal because I'm a brutal metal musician. May nap later…
