The Foo Fighters have, with no warning, just dropped a new EP. It bears the catchy title 01070725, and is built around material from 2007 – the year the band’s sixth album, Echoes, Silence, Patience & Grace, was released.

The EP features three studio tracks. If Ever is a B-side to The Pretender, while Seda hails from the bonus edition of Echoes. Come Alive, track five of Echoes, features on the EP as a demo version.

Rounding out the tracklist are two live tracks – a cover of Arcade Fire’s Keep The Car Running, recorded live at BBC Radio 1’s Six Weeks Of Summer in 2007, and a performance of Holiday In Cambodia from the 2007 MTV Music Awards.

The EP’s name isn’t as arbitrary as it might appear – The Foo Fighters have released several EPs this year, all following an “archives” theme. Each EP’s cover art consists of a filing cabinet (presumably chock-full of old recordings and live performances) adorned with its ID code.
