The Foo Fighters have teased a new song from their upcoming album Medicine At Midnight, which is due out 5 February 2021.

The teaser follows the launch of the album’s debut single, Shame Shame, from back in November. Along with a half-minute clip of the song, the Foo Fighters tweeted a brief accompanying message: “New year. New music…(sooner than later!)”

Listen to the teaser below:

Medicine At Midnight will be the Foos’ 10th studio album and the follow-up to 2017’s Concrete And Gold. Initially, the band intended to drop the record this year, to commemorate their 25th anniversary, however, COVID-19 threw a wrench in the works.

Frontman Dave Grohl has described the record as “a party album,” in that it draws from the “big grooves and riffs” of some of the band’s favourite records.

“I hate to call it a funk or dance record, but it’s more energetic in a lot of ways than anything we’ve ever done and it was really designed to be that Saturday night party album,” he told NME.

“It was written and sequenced in a way that you put on, and nine songs later you’ll just put it on again,” he said. “Songs like Making A Fire. To me that’s rooted in Sly & The Family Stone grooves, but amplified in the way that the Foo Fighters do it.”

Medicine At Midnight will also arrive in several physical formats, including vinyl and CD.
