H.E.R. has unveiled a new weekly Instagram live series called Girls With Guitars. The live stream features performances by the Grammy award-winning artist herself – originals, covers and fan requests. It also has long candid conversations with fellow female guitarists and musicians about music, the creative process and of course, guitars.
The first episode of the series, which streamed earlier today saw H.E.R. discuss songwriting and acoustic guitars with Tori Kelly, and several impromptu performances with Alessia Cara – which include covers of Amy Winehouse’s version of Valerie, and Hiatus Kaiyote’s Nakamarra.
During her conversation with Tori Kelly, H.E.R. explained the idea behind the series saying, “Girls With Guitars is really dope because I just wanted really talented, beastly – you know – singers, guitar players like yourself to come on Instagram with me and just vibe and connect with the people and it’s a cool way to do it”.
Recently imposed self-quarantine measures around the world has resulted in more artists announcing tour postponements and cancellations. To deal with this sudden off-season, many, like H.E.R. have found an avenue in live streaming as a way to stay connected with fans.
