H.E.R. helped kick off Super Bowl LV on Sunday (7 February) with her take on America The Beautiful.

Armed with her signature Fender Stratocaster model, H.E.R. performed the Katharine Lee Bates tune from the stands of the Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida. The performance included an impressive guitar solo.

Shortly before taking the stage, H.E.R. spoke to Entertainment Tonight, saying “It’s a huge stage and it doesn’t get any bigger, you know? But I think the goal, for me, is to make [the song] my own.”

“I’m a huge fan of the different versions of America the Beautiful but I really want to bring some different elements in there – make it H.E.R.”

H.E.R. is in the running to pick up two Grammy Awards in 2021, including Best Song Of The Year for I Can’t Breathe, a protest song written in response to the killings of unarmed black people in the USA and the protests against police brutality and systemic racism that came from it.
