Jack White made an appearance at Bernie Sander’s recent 2020 Campaign rally in Detroit on Sunday (27 October). You can watch the first two songs he performed above.

White started off with the rhythmic track Corporation, from his solo album Boarding House Reach before transitioning into Icky Thump, from the White Stripes record of the same name. Overall he played six songs, and vocalised his support for Sanders’ views. “Bernie Sanders is telling the truth, and I really do trust him,” White said, before also lending praise to Sanders’ proposal to get rid of the electoral college, saying “I have this silly notion that the person who gets the most votes should be elected.” Bassist Dominic Miller and drummer Ben Blackwell joined White for his performance.

White was born and raised in Detroit, playing in several underground bands there before the success of the White Stripes. White’s label and vinyl-pressing plant Third Man Records is also situated in Detroit.
