Jackson Browne’s latest music video, for his new single My Cleveland Heart, features a surprise cameo from Phoebe Bridgers – check it out below.

My Cleveland Heart comes from Browne’s forthcoming album, Downhill From Everywhere, due out on 23 July through the musician’s own Inside Recordings.

In the video, Browne plays a patient undergoing a heart procedure to replace his “worn-out” organic heart with a sleek mechanical one. Bridgers makes her appearance in the mid-point of the video, playing the role of a medical assistant.

Browne spoke about the collaboration in an article published by Rolling Stone yesterday (19 May).

“I thought it was really appropriate to take out my worn-out, useless heart and hand it to Phoebe,” Browne said. “Who better to hand [it] to than somebody young, strong and possibly as cynical as me?”

The single is the third to arrive from Browne’s upcoming album, after A Little Soon To Say and the record’s title track, Downhill From Everywhere. Initially, Browne planned to have the album out in Fall 2020, but postponed its release due to the pandemic.

Bridgers has cited Browne as one of her musical influences and got to duet with him on a special, “sadder” version of her song Kyoto back in March.
