After declaring his 1951 Fender Nocaster his “best guitar”, Joe Bonamassa has made another proclamation on Instagram – this time to crown Eric Gales as the best blues-rock guitarist today.

“Our best Ballad Of John Henry of all time. Thank you to Eric Gales for showing us all how it’s done!! You are the best guitarist in blues-rock and that the world has right now. Epic in every way!!” Bonamassa wrote in a caption of a photo of them sharing the stage. The pair are on the high seas now, playing at the Keeping The Blues Alive cruise. See the Instagram post here:

This isn’t the first time Bonamassa has sung Gales&#8217; praises. Way back in 2013, he tweeted that Gales is <a href="https://twitter.com/jbonamassa/status/394697842075656192?lang=en" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">&#8220;one of the best if not the best guitarist in the world today&#8221;</a>. Clearly, Gales has risen in the ranks in Bonamassa&#8217;s eyes since then.</p><p>Listen to <em>The Ballad Of John Henry </em>here:</p><p><iframe loading="lazy" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/DRxawmG5MfM" width="560" height="315" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen="allowfullscreen"></iframe></p><p><em><strong>Read <a href="/features/interviews/interview-eric-gales-more-than-just-a-blues-guy/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">our 2019 interview with Eric Gales here</a>.</strong></em></p>
