Joe Bonamassa has surprised fans with the release of a new single, A Conversation With Alice. The track was released last Friday (17 April) and is the first to come off the bluesman’s forthcoming record, recorded earlier this year at famed Abbey Road Studio A.

Bonamassa unveiled the track, along with a music video on YouTube and Facebook. In the video, Bonamassa is accompanied by some members of his newly formed side project, The Sleep Eazys – made up of veteran musicians like Anton Fig (Late Night with David Letterman), Reese Wynans (Double Trouble) and Michael Rhodes. The group put out its debut LP, Easy To Buy, Hard To Sell earlier this month.

In a statement, Bonamassa revealed the origins of the new track to be a series of counselling sessions. “The song is derived by an experience I had a couple years ago when some friends of mine intervened and said, ‘You know what, Joe? You should go ahead and talk to someone about these problems you have that come up time and time again.’ So, I agreed”, he said.

“I went to see this lovely woman in Los Angeles, California and began talking about my problems. After the second session, I came to the conclusion that I was unrepairable and that the crazy in me makes me good at my job. I like being good at my job.”
